Junior Jays Coaches
Jeremiah Atwell - Head Coach
I coach the Jr Jay beginners and advanced groups. I have been involved with wrestling my entire life as a competitor or a coach. Over the years I have found great joy working with the younger kids. Watching how they develop over the years and how they fall in love with the sport. Our room is open to any boy or girl that wants to wrestle. I believe in working hard and having fun while doing so. My advice for any child that has ever thought about wrestling is to come try it out. The lessons learned in wrestling extend beyond the mat and into the classroom, at home, and other sports.
Mike Peterson - Assistant Coach
I started wrestling after watching my 2 older brothers wrestle. I joined the Perry Jr Jays at age 5 and continued wrestling for Perry Schools until graduation. I qualified for state my Junior(‘97) year, and fell a match short my senior (‘98) year. I got back involved with the Jr Jay program when my middle daughter Hailey wanted to wrestle starting in 2010. I enjoy coaching the youth of our community. Being able to see their success, but also understand the heartache, and to try to help them cope and persevere is very rewarding.
